MACSS President

Message from your MACSS President - Linda Marsh, Beaverhead County Superintendent of Schools

Welcome to the Montana Association of County School Superintendents’ webpage.   Your Executive Board Members are excited to be at your service for the 2018-2019 year.  We encourage all 56 elected and acting county superintendents to become involved in the Association.

MACSS is an affiliate of SAM and the National Rural Education Association (NREA) who work to develop and promote legislation to assist students in reaching their greatest potential.  MACSS provides networking, mentoring, and opportunities for collaboration to our members.  Through these processes we promote our core values – leadership, integrity, professionalism, advocacy, and professional learning.

Each year MACSS offers our members two conferences.  The hearing process will be the featured topic of our Fall Conference in Dillon on September 19-21.  Members with past hearing experience will present the necessary steps needed to determine a county superintendent’s qualification or disqualification to hear a compliant.  Members will also participate in a “mock hearing” on Land Transfers.  Since 2019 is a legislative year, the spring conference will take place in Helena in February.  Information on both conferences will be updated on this site as it becomes available.  In order to improve communication and collaboration among members and assist those members who are new to their position, regional meetings are being held between conferences as well.

If you want to ask a question to the membership or wish to start a discussion, please post it to the “Community Forum” on the Member’s Landing Page.  To access the Member’s Landing Page you will need to sign in to the SAM website with a username and password.   For assistance you may call Kim at the SAM office.

If you have any other questions, you may call or email me at any time.  I look forward to working with you again this year!

Linda
