2022 Jay Erdie Memorial Scholarship Recipient

Ms. Lindsay Siroky of Roy Public Schools was recently awarded the Jay Erdie Memorial Mentor Scholarship at the Montana Conference of Education Leadership (MCEL) that was held in Missoula on October 19-21, 2022.  The award is sponsored by School Administrators of Montana (SAM), Montana Unified School Trust (MUST), and the Erdie family.  Dr. Erdie’s daughter, Jennifer Erdie Hickok and her husband KC Hickok, were in attendance for the presentation of the scholarship to Ms. Siroky.

The Jay Erdie Memorial Mentor Scholarship is provided to an administration candidate who plans to begin and/or complete their administrative credentials and intends to work as a school administrator in Montana.  The award is named after Dr. John Jay Erdie, a Montana School Superintendent well known for his efforts in mentoring promising educators into becoming school administrators. As the recipient of the award, Ms. Siroky received a $1000 scholarship to assist in completing her degree in educational leadership.  She will participate in the SAM Leaders Professional Learning Program through which she will work with a highly qualified coach/mentor following her administrative certification and employment as an administrator in a Montana school district.

Ms. Siroky has been an Ag Educator and FFA Advisor for eight years at Roy Public Schools.  She has also served as a Guidance Counselor for the school district for the past two years. Ms. Siroky stated in her application the the scholarship will impact education in Montana by providing her with better resources to serve youth and their learning, specifically in rural Montana. She loves small towns and hopes to keep these smaller schools alive and well throughout her career and beyond. As a school administrator, she hopes to create effective schools in which the staff, students, parents, and community support.

SAM congratulates Ms. Lindsay Siroky for receiving this scholarship to assist in the completion of her administrator certification and wishes her the best as she continues to positively impact the education of Montana’s children.
